Sage & Bloom blends are made using certified, pure therapeutic grade essential oils diluted with carrier oil (mostly Fractionated Coconut Oil, in some instances Jojoba or Grape Seed Oil). In addition to using pure, trusted, high quality oils, all our blends are diluted in accordance with recommended essential oil safety guidelines to ensure suitability for all ages, from 3 month old babies, to pregnant women and people with sensitive skin.
The essential oils used undergo third party testing which certifies that the oils do not contain added fillers or harmful contaminants
What are essential oils
Essential oils are compounds occurring in certain flowers, roots, stems, leaves, resins and rinds of the plant, giving plants their distinctive smells. Not only do these essential oils provide a number of benefits to plants, but also to the human body and animals. Oils extracted from plants have been used for centuries in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits, and in more modern times, they are extracted, distilled and used in health care, beauty treatments and food preparation.
The power of essentials oils
Natural oils are potent and affect the body powerfully and rapidly, so a little goes a long way! When used topically, the compounds interact with the organs, cells and systems within the body. When used aromatically, the aromatic compounds interact with the body’s olfactory (sensory system used for smelling) and limbic (part of the brain relating to behavioural and emotional responses) systems to trigger therapeutic chemical changes in the body. In light of the potency of these oils, safety in application thereof is very important.
How essential oils are used
Due to their incredible therapeutic properties, essential oils can be used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness benefits in everyday life – including relaxation, personal hygiene, household cleaning, cooking and more. Essential oils can be used as single oils for their unique benefits, or in essential oil blends where the synergy of oils can boost benefits even further.

Essential oil safety
- If you have any questions about using essential oils for your particular needs or if you are under treatment or on medication, consult with your qualified healthcare provider before use.
- When using essential oils for the first time, it is advisable to do a small patch test by applying a small amount of oil on the skin. If oil causes irritation or burning to the skin, it should be washed off with soap or diluted with carrier oil immediately.
- Essential oils are generally safe to apply anywhere on your skin, however applying oils to the inside of the nose, the eyes, the inner ear, broken skin, or other sensitive areas should be avoided.
- Citrus oils can cause photosensitivity (skin sensitivity in sunlight), so UV rays should be avoided for at least 12 hours after application to your skin.
- Essential oils must always be used under adult supervision and be kept out of children’s reach.
