Stone Ridge Olives
After reading all of Carol Drinkwater’s fantastic books, my already love for Olives were taken to new levels that resulted in planting over 500 Olive Trees in Lions River, in the KZN Midlands. Not traditionally an Olive growing area but being next to a successful wine estate, I reckoned that I want to give it a go. And the result is a beautiful happy orchard consisting of Kalamatas, Mission, Manzanilla, Florentina and Coratinatrees. We are proudly the first KZN associate member of the controlling body SA Olive Industry Association.
500ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil and 3L Oil
Description of oil (most prominent characteristics and overall impression): Well balanced, herbaceous Extra Virgin Olive Oil with good complexity. Positive attributes: Green olives, grass, artichoke, apple, almond, herbs. Cold pressed Frantoiasingle cultivar.
Manzanilla Olives
Lovely green Olive that was cured for 9 months in brine, the natural way. Bottled in brine, 5 ml red grape vinegar, sprig of Rosemary and topped with Stone Ridge Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Lightly salted Spanish flavours.
Kalamata Olives
These are lovely meaty Kalamata Olives (if spelled Calamata, it is black Olives cured in Kalamata style but not KalamataOlives) that was cured for 7 months and bottled in 5% brine, 5ml red grape vinegar, sprig of Rosemary and topped with Stone Ridge Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Lightly slated Spanish flavour.
